The Rule of Law Project: Field Trip Model

The Rule of Law Day Field Trip Model was developed by the Center for Teaching the Rule of Law with the assistance of Justice Cleo E. Powell of the Supreme Court of Virginia. For many years, with the assistance of the Supreme Court, the General Assembly, and other agencies, students from Richmond and surrounding localities have come together in the State Capitol area to learn about the Rule of Law and its importance in maintain the checks and balances among the three branches of government. Other ROL Day Field Trips have been organized elsewhere to bring students from different backgrounds together in significant sites in the history of the Rule of Law such as the Robert Russa Moten Museum in Farmville.
